LifeStart Wellness Network, Inc. continues to partner with some of the most innovative properties in the country by securing a Management Contract for the on-site fitness center located in the newly restored building. LifeStart initially provided consulting, space planning, and procurement services before signing on for the ongoing management of the new center.

LifeStart Partners With Sumitomo Corporation of Americas to Manage a New Fitness Center at 203 N LaSalle

Sumitomo Corporation of Americas completed a $15 million renovation of this Class A Office building located one block from River North. The LEED Platinum building has been enhanced to create a new experience for its tenants. The building has a more modern aesthetic, with increased natural light and added amenities including a technology lounge and conference space. LifeStart worked with Eckenhoff Saunders Architects, M & J Wilkow, Ltd. and Sumitomo to provide input on the design and development of the center and to procure all the equipment.

35 East Wacker recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation to bring the property up to contemporary Class A standards. The interior of the building is being entirely re-built on a floor-by-floor basis with only the historic facade and structure remaining in place. The property re-development has received awards including a top award from theChicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (the “Interior Architecture Citation of Merit” for Excellence in Architecture 2006) and the “2006 Chicago Landmark Award for Preservation Excellence - Exterior and Interior Rehabilitation” from the City of Chicago.
The fitness center, a final part of the renovation project, was built to enhance the amenities offered at 35 East Wacker. Chief Executive Officer
Mike has more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, working in the fields of medical-based therapy and corporate wellness. Mike was integral in the development of the My Health IQ program, which was recognized by the National Health, Wellness, and Prevention Congress as one of the Most Innovative Consumer Driven Health Care Programs, and was later sold to Healthways in 2005. After the sale of My Health IQ, Mike took the lead as President of LifeStart and reshaped the company around an expanded vision and business model. As CEO, Mike is responsible for guiding the development, strategy, and execution of LifeStart’s business model. He has solidified corporate direction and strategic partnerships, developed new business models and built a culture that is passionate about innovation and employee health and well-being. In his current role, he maintains an active role in operations, sales, construction, consulting, and new business development. Mike holds a B.S. in Exercise and Rehabilitation from Illinois State University, a M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently on leave from his Ph.D. program in Curriculum and Instruction from DePaul University.
Chief Technology Officer
Scott is a technology entrepreneur and software architect specializing in the rapid conversion of entrepreneurial ideas into elegant commercial products. He founded the software development practice at Spirian Technologies, a deployment-automation firm that was sold in 2003 to SecureInfo. Later, he architected and led the development of My Health IQ, an employee-wellness platform which was acquired by Healthways in 2005. Scott co-founded ContactLiving, a technology startup providing mobile app technology for geriatric-care and child daycare businesses to communicate proactively with their customers. Later, he co-founded Helios Health Technologies, a data-analytics startup specializing in the identification of unclaimed reimbursements and provider fraud within Medicare Advantage plans. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University.
Director of Finance
As Director of Finance, Tom oversees the financial statement preparation and review process for all of our fitness centers. As well as managing financial reporting, he also manages cash, payroll, accounts payable, and receivables. Tom has held various manager-level positions throughout his 15-year career. Most recently he was the Assistant Controller for Merchandise Mart Properties, a division of Vornado Realty Trust. In this position, he oversaw all property-accounting reporting, as well as audit compliance and SEC filings. Prior to that role, he was the property accountant for the Merchandise Mart, one of the largest buildings in the world. Tom started his career as a financial analyst for Coventry Healthcare. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Calvin College and an MBA in Finance from North Central College.
Director of Business Development
Kira is a recent addition to LifeStart and comes to us with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare and wellness industry. She began her career as a director at Physiotherapy Associates, where she oversaw special projects, operations, sales, and recruitment. She is a results-oriented professional and leader who combines integrity and operational skill to lead complex projects from conception through completion. Kira also is a trained chef, and she was recently seen on the television show MasterChef, competing with the top chefs in the country. Her culinary background brings a significant advantage to LifeStart's wellness offerings, as she works with our dietitians to build healthy recipes.
Director of Account Management
Sharon has been in the fitness industry for over 36 years and has managed LifeStart corporate fitness centers for over 25 years. Sharon shapes and develops the strategy and infrastructure of LifeStart's field-operations function. She has made significant contributions towards LifeStart's operational excellence, including her role in the analysis of key-performance indicators, serving as the balanced-scorecard champion, and leading the development of LifeStart's operations manual.Before entering the fitness Industry she was employed in the accounting field.Sharon's certifications include Personal Training-NASM, NSCA, Intrinsic Biomechanics, Health Coach, Group Exercise Schwinn Indoor Cycling Master Trainer, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, KickBoxing, and Fusion. She has been an international fitness presenter, Shape Magazine writer, and motivational speaker. Mother of five, grandmother of 10, she enjoys surfing, snowboarding, biking, and swimming.

Laura received her B.S. in Exercise Science and M.S. in Exercise Physiology at Eastern Illinois University. At EIU she completed a Graduate Assistanstship and was in charge of running the Adult Fitness Program and Student ATP Lab. It was during this time that her passion for fitness grew to include a strong emphasis in overall health and wellness. After completing the Masters program, Laura quickly moved to LifeStart and has now been with the company for over 5 years. She is currently certified as a NSCA-Personal Trainer, Intrinsic Motion Biomechanics Trainer levels 1 and 2, Schwinn Indoor Cycling Instructor, TRX trainer, and Balanced Body Pilates Mat 1 instructor.

Matt received his B.S. In Exercise Science from Illinois State University. Through internship experience he had opportunities to work in a wide spectrum of sectors from youth sport development to cardiac rehab, ultimately finding a passion for corporate fitness with LifeStart. In four years Matt quickly moved up within the company by having a proven track record of achieving success at the club level to manage a portfolio of fitness centers. Matt's certifications include Personal Training-NASM, Corrective Exercise Specialist-NASM, Intrinsic Biomechanics level 1, Health Coaching, TRX Suspension Trainer, and Schwinn Cycling Instructor.
Director of Account Management
Nicole is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Coach who graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness, and Health. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Ingalls Memorial Hospital on the Wellness Nutrition Track. She is a current member of the board for Illinois's South Suburban Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a member of the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition Practice Group through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Outside her love for all things food and nutrition, Nicole has a huge passion for teaching group exercise classes and helping people reach their fitness goals. Nicole's certifications include NASM Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, Intrinsic Biomechanist Levels 1 & 2, Schwinn Cycling, TRX Suspension Training, WERQ Dance Fitness, Turbo Kick, and BarreWRX. In her role of Director of Account Management, Nicole oversees LifeStart's portfolio of owner-occupied sites.
Director of Clinical Design
Krista King, MS, RDN, LDN is a Registered Dietitian who completed her BS in Dietetics with a specialization in Health Promotion at Michigan State University and combined Master's and dietetic internship program at Loyola University Chicago. Krista has a background in providing medical nutrition therapy, performing finger-stick lab tests, and educating patients on diabetes self-management and related chronic conditions using motivational interviewing in the home health setting. In addition, Krista has worked as an online wellness coach empowering individuals to achieve their health and fitness goals through impactful lifestyle shifts for lasting change. Krista is a member of the Chicago Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine Practice Group through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Director of Site Development
Jim started his career with LifeStart in 2002 and has over 15 years of experience in corporate fitness, athleic training, exercise testing and prescrption and disease management consulting. He is responsible for new business start-up, with focus on fitness center development, implementation, procurement, and staff training. Jim works closely with clients, architects, interior designers, and project management firms. He also performs training on LifeStart's MyPath program and is a Level 3 Specialist Biomechanics Coach. Prior to his current role, he served in a variety of positions, including Exercise Physiologist, General Manager and Director of Operations. Jim's prior experience includes Program Director for Frappier Acceleration Sports Training Centers. He earned a BA in Fitness Leadership with an emphasis on Cardiac Rehabilitation and a minor in Sports Medicine and Biology from Northern Illinois University.
